Abstract:The ability of engine to adapt to environmental icing is an important index to evaluate the performance of aero-engine. Full-scale engine icing tests provide a comprehensive means to assess anti-icing and de-icing capabilities, with icing cloud parameters serving as key indicators for simulating realistic icing conditions. To address the need for measuring icing cloud parameters in such tests, the testing methods of liquid water content and median volume diameter in cloud parameters are reviewed. It further studies the testing methods for cloud parameters employed in foreign aero-engine icing facilities and the current research status of domestic research institu? tions. the challenges and difficulties associated with measuring icing cloud parameters are analyzed. Based on the specific characteristics of full-scale aero-engine icing test facility, the challenges and difficulties associated with measuring icing cloud parameters are analyzed. Feasible measurement approaches under conditions involving supercooled large droplets, mixed-phase, and ice crystal icing are also explored. The prospects for cloud parameter test technology are discussed from aspects such as the development of testing instruments, research on calibration techniques, and the standardization of testing methods.
