Abstract:In order to study the high temperature oxidation resistance of Co-Al coating on the surface of Ni-based superalloy,high temperature oxidation tests were carried out at 800,900 and 1000 ℃ for 200 hours,and their oxidation behavior were analyzed metallo? graphically by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that the oxidation kinetics curves of the Co-Al coatings basically obey the parabolic law and the oxidation activation energy was 78185 kJ/mol. The mass addition of Co-Al coating was relatively slow as well as the average oxidation rate. Uniform and dense film of oxidation products, which were mainly composed of Al 2 O 3 ,was formed on the surface of the specimen. The continuous and dense protective film effectively pre? vents the outward diffusion of Al to the coating-air interface and the inward diffusion of O to the coating-substrate interface, the Co-Al coating exhibits excellent high temperature oxidation resistance at three temperatures.
